RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA / DUBLIN, IRELAND — March 21, 2017 — North Carolina based indie retail store and label, Schoolkids Records announced today that two exclusive limited-edition vinyl titles will be released as part of the Tenth Annual Record Store Day event, to be held on April 22nd, 2017.
Bettie Serveert
Damaged Good (LP)
Limited to 1000 Copies in the United States
Dutch indie legends, Bettie Serveert return on their 25th Anniversary with their 11th Studio Album “Damaged Good.” This limited edition exclusive transparent magenta Vinyl LP (beautiful gatefold packaging) will include a digital download and full CD. This is the only version of the LP or CD available in North America.
The Veldt
Symmetry b/w Slow Grind (7” Single)
Limited to 500 Copies in the United States
Legendary North Carolina band The Veldt return with a new single “Symmetry”, available exclusively as a 7” single for Record Store Day 2017. The lead track and its b-side counterpart “Slow Grind” are two of the best songs released in the band’s 28 year history. Often compared to the Cocteau Twins, Ride and Lush, this is a must-have for any shoegaze aficionado. The band has just finished up a US tour with Phantogram, playing sold-out shows every night and winning over tons of new fans in each city. They will soon be heading out on a string of East Coast dates with their pals (and seminal 4AD band) Modern English, as well with a new EP ‘The Shocking Fuzz of Your Electric Fur: The Drake Equation’, which is slated for worldwide release in June 2017. Neither ‘Symmetry’ nor ‘Slow Grind’ are on the forthcoming EP, and can only be obtained on this 7” exclusive/limited single.

Hey Jim,
thanks! so glad you are excited! we are too, its a fantastic record.
so, the way Record Store Day works, is that you have to go to the actual store to buy the albums. You cannot hold copies, buy online, etc they are exclusively only available at record stores. (its the whole purpose) and because all of the releases on RSD are very limited, none of the stores are allowed to sell them online ahead of time or hold copies because it would be unfair to those people who camp outside overnight and wait in line for hours.. and create a problem with people selling on Ebay, etc. Now that does exist, you will always see people selling on Ebay ahead of time, but those people never actually have copies of the record, they are betting that they will get some and taking people’s money in advance (and then cancel the orders if they dont) Record store day polices this pretty heavily and if they find out who these people are, notify the stores and they are banned. so its pretty strict.
that being said, the one thing that is allowed, is the Monday after (April 24th this year) if you have any leftovers (as a store), then you are allowed to sell those online. but that’s a risk you take by waiting. the best thing you can do is go to recordstoreday.com, you can search their site and it will show all of the participating stores in your area that are official RSD stores. they all ‘should’ be ordering it, but every store is different some buy everything, some buy just small quantities, its a huge risk for the stores so unless they know a customer is looking for something in particular they are forced to be conservative b/c otherwise they get stuck with leftovers that dont sell. (I have three stores myself so I know how difficult this is for stores) so you should call them now and ask if they plan to bring it in. that’s your best bet and if you dont find it on the day, then contact us the monday after and we’ll see if there are any leftovers at our stores or the stores that purchased it. thanks!
